{"id":5168,"date":"2019-03-27T17:00:06","date_gmt":"2019-03-27T16:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.morethanbooks.nl\/?p=5168"},"modified":"2019-03-26T15:34:17","modified_gmt":"2019-03-26T14:34:17","slug":"review-where-am-i-now-mara-wilson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.morethanbooks.nl\/review-where-am-i-now-mara-wilson\/","title":{"rendered":"Review: Where Am I Now – Mara Wilson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Het boek:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Mara Wilson kan je misschien kennen van haar kind rollen in Matilda en Mrs. Doubtfire.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mara Wilson heeft zich altijd een beetje misplaatst gevoeld: als het enige kind op een filmset vol met volwassenen, de eerste dochter in een huis vol jongens,\u00a0 het enige klinisch depressieve lid van de cheerleadingploeg, een vallei-meisje in New York en een neuroticus in Californi\u00eb en daarnaast ook een van de weinige voormalige kindacteurs die nog nooit in de gevangenis of revalidatie heeft gezeten. Alles wordt verteld: van hoe ze, voor het eerst over seks leerde op de set van Melrose Place, haar moeder op jonge leeftijd verloor, haar eerste kus kreeg tijdens een kanotocht met beroemdheden en over het niet \u00a0“schattig” genoeg zijn om het in Hollywood te maken. Dit boek vertelt deze verhalen. De verhalen van hoe een jonge vrouw met toevallige roem naar relatieve duisternis reist. Maar ze verlichten ook een universele strijd: jezelf leren accepteren en uitzoeken wie je bent en waar je thuishoort.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Review:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ik ben dit boek gaan lezen omdat Matilda mijn favoriete film ooit is. Daarnaast volg ik Mara al een aantal jaar op twitter. Toen ze het boek uitbracht, was ik zeer nieuwsgierig en nu 3 jaar later (oeps, sorry) heb ik hem eindelijk aangeschaft. In dit boek worden allerlei verschillende verhalen verteld, maar het is nogal hak op de tak. Ik vond het erg lastig om te volgen, maar nadat ik maximaal 1 hoofdstuk per dag ging lezen ging het een stuk beter. Mara is erg open over haar angsten en OCD. Daarnaast wordt er uitgebreid bij haar liefdesleven stil gestaan. Ook over de dood van haar moeder, toen ze nog klein was, wordt verteld.
